FRIENDSHIP, LOVE, & TRUTH

Have you been searching for a way to help others and be a part of something bigger than yourself?

WHO ARE THE ODD FELLOWS?

"To improve and elevate the character of mankind"

We believe that life is a commitment to improve and elevate the character of mankind through service and example. Our legacy has been 200 years of helping each other and others without seeking anything in return.  Odd Fellows are aware of the vanity of earthly things, the frailty and inevitable decay of human life and the fact that wealth has no power to stop the sureness of eventual death.

SPENCER BUTTE LODGE NO. 9

Three decades after establishment of the first Independent Order of Odd Fellows in 1819 at Baltimore, Maryland, members of the order began drifting West. By late 1852, a large enough group had settled in and around Salem to organize Chemeketa Lodge No. 1, Oregon’s first lodge and the first order in the Northwest. Less than a decade later, Eugene City would form its own lodge and institute Spencer Butte Lodge No. 9 on May 1, 1861. Among its initial functions was the "supervision of all orphans and children of deceased qualified members who may have been left in poverty or without a guardian." The first member initiated to the lodge was Eugene F. Skinner, founder of Eugene City.
